As part of your assessment, your physiotherapist will observe and assess your posture. If your therapist feels that postural issues identified are causing or contributing to your pain and problems, postural re-education techniques will be employed to realign the skeleton where possible and will be included as part of your treatment. This may take the form of stretching, to relieve stress being exerted on the skeleton, strengthening, to support the skeleton and optimize an individual’s posture. Manual therapy is usually applied if there is joint restriction.
