The Kinesiology taping method is a rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process by off loading tension on muscles, ligaments and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. The tape releases pressure on pain sensitive nerve endings. The tape, as well as alleviating pain, facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin which increases interstitial space and allows for a decrease in inflammation of the affected area.
- The kinesiology tape can often be worn for 2-3 days and can get wet.
- If you experience any itching or irritation of the skin you should remove the tape immediately as the skin could blister.
- Sports taping provides a more rigid support to joints.
- The physios can teach you how to apply the tape yourself so you continue to experience the benefit at home and during sport.
