Men’s Health Physio is focused on assessing and treating dysfunction deriving from the male pelvis and surrounding structures. It's a sad truth that men often suffer in silence about symptoms such as sexual dysfunction, incontinence or pelvic pain, usually due to embarrassment and/or being unaware that treatment or a solution exists. This often results in problems becoming progressively worse and affecting many aspects of life, including mental wellbeing, socialising or exercising. In some instances, it can even begin to affect relationships with those closest to you.
Adam is one of our Physiotherapists and is one of the few male physiotherapists who has trained in the treatment of male pelvic pain and the rehabilitation of the male pelvic floor muscles. This is what he has to say…..
…..“Yes gentleman, it’s not just women that have pelvic floor muscles, we have them too! And in the same way that musculoskeletal muscle needs to be trained to maintain strength, endurance and control, the pelvic floor needs training as well. To ensure we maintain good pelvic health, good bladder and bowel control and good sexual health & function, we need to have a good understanding of how to engage and how to train these muscles. At times we also need to know how these muscles are rehabilitated, for example in cases of general deconditioning or having had an injury or surgical procedure”.
For this reason, Adam has expanded his expertise to provide a service for those suffering with the following:
- Pelvic Pain (Chronic Pelvic Pain / Athletic Pelvis Dysfunction)
- Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
- Sexual Dysfunction / Erectile Dysfunction
- Post-prostatectomy rehabilitation (e.g. following prostate Cancer)
- Urinary Incontinence
- Stress Incontinence (leaking when coughing, sneezing, laughing and/or running).
- Urge incontinence (Overactive Bladder) – sudden urges to empty bladder, possibly failing to get to the toilet on time.
- Faecal Incontinence
If you are suffering any of the above and would like to investigate if and how we may be able to help, please feel free to contact the clinic on any of the contact information below.
